Lasting Power Of AttorneyPlanning Your WillWhat To Do When Someone Dies

What Is A Lasting Power Of Attorney?

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document which allows you to choose somebody you trust to make decisions about your healthcare and finances on your behalf if there comes a time in the future when you no longer have the mental capacity to make those decisions for yourself. LPAs are still valid if you become mentally incapable of managing your affairs - they 'last'.

LPAs give the appointed attorney two key capacities – to look after your finances and your welfare. If you wish, you can choose a separate person for each responsibility. Choosing an attorney is a very significant decision – you need to consider it carefully and only appoint someone that you trust entirely. There may come a time where they will be managing your affairs while you are unable to supervise or have any input.

Our team are here to help you make these difficult decisions. Get in touch today for free help and advice.
